C.W. Tiffins is an upscale, yet casual restaurant and tavern surrounded by history. Our chefs trained in the culinary arts have designed a menu sure to please any taste. Our tavern is the perfect place to meet; our formal dinning room is a perfect setting for any special day; and our outdoor café is as perfect as the weather on a beautiful
Autumn day.

C.W. Tiffins, restaurant and tavern was originally known as the Historic Tiffin House on Liberty Street in Charles Town. The building was originally constructed in 1788. C.W. Tiffins was previously known as Charles Washington Inn or, to many, as the CW. The charm and tradition of the Charles Washington Inn will continue, with plaster
ceilings and wall coverings removed to expose beams and boards put in place by craftsmen during the 1780’s. The small outdoor café has been enlarged to an 1800 square foot dining area, a great venue for wedding receptions and private parties.

Our Chefs rely upon their training in the culinary arts and vast experience to develop an extraordinary menu in a casual, but elegant setting. C.W. TIFFINS is the perfect place where every day is a gift; every meal a feast; and every guest a friend”. The warm and comfortable setting of the CW has been improved by substantial
renovations, restoring parts of the restaurant to the original 18th century appearance, making the atmosphere of Tiffins’ similar to many Northern Virginia Restaurants.

The name “C.W. Tiffins” is designed to honor the history of Charles Town. “C.W.” pays homage to Charles Washington and the high level of service and hospitality provided by the Charles Washington Inn since 1990’s. “Tiffins” honors Dr. Edward Tiffin, who built the house where the restaurant is now located in 1788. Dr. Tiffin left Charles Town in the late 1790’s, moved to Ohio and became the first governor of Ohio.
